I can't think of anywhere else to go but to Love's front door. Sir Arthur and his round table, tearin it up. Super jammy. Jim Morrison had to look up to SOMEone...
What are you doing here? What do you want? Is it music? We can play music. But you want more. You want something & someone new. Am I right? Of course I am. I know what you want. You want ecstasy Desire & dreams. Things not exactly what they seem. I lead you this way, he pulls that way. I'm not singing to an imaginary girl. I'm talking to you, my self. Let's recreate the world. The palace of conception is burning.
Look. See it burn. Bask in the warm hot coals.
You're too young to be old You don't need to be told You want to see things as they are. You know exactly what I do Everything
The Lost Writings of Jim Morrison Exert from Wilderness: Volume I
According to Wiki, Pam was a stone fox. She was the love of Jim's life, she was the inspiration behind Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl, and she was a flicker of lust in the eye of Arthur Lee. Not bad for a little girl from Weed CA. But in the end, it was Jim that was her soul mate. After Jim died she was a mess and overdosed on Heroin. And so it goes and so it goes....
The only other performance that would have topped this one would be Miles Davis. But it was electric and something like 40 min long. Come on. Both were ridiculous and both would be worth the $80.00 it cost to buy the whole festival on dvd from Amazon.
Are you on a wall in Venice Beach CA? Yeah, me neither... And so the journey began for Jim, living on Trix rooftop, finishing up his time at UCLA. This buildings rooftop is where he was rumored to have written Moonlight Drive in the summer of 65'. I should have been there.
Ghost Song was also from An American Prayer. The Shaman gathered all of his inner most thoughts, put pen to paper and went to work. I would like to think it was his final FU to the media machine that made him a star. They inevitably turned against him as they always do. Jim had his freak outs and he did his time in jail, but no matter what, he will still remain a poet in my eyes, despite what Gregory Corso says in his What Happened to Kerouac rant. "Kings don't like repetition." Well I'm no king, but when I put my boots on and dance it out to this song, I sure in the hell feel like one.
The movie will begin in five moments The mindless voice announced All those unseated will await the next show. We filed slowly, languidly into the hall The auditorium was vast and silent As we seated and were darkened, the voice continued. The program for this evening is not new You've seen this entertainment through and through You've seen your birth your life and death you might recall all of the rest Did you have a good world when you died? Enough to base a movie on?.
The musician, the drunk, the poet, the lover, the benevolent soul, the boy, the addict, the clown, the artist, the shaman, the forever young Jim Morrison.
So once upon a time Oliver Stone co wrote and directed an amazing movie called, The Doors staring Val Kilmer, who does a spot on Lizard King if I do say so myself. In the flick, Nico of The Velvet Underground hooks up with Jim Morrison of The Doors, oraly in the elevator of The Chelsea Hotel after a party at The Factory. She is a slut. Let's move on.
This is a perfect example Warhol horning in and jamming people up just so that he can have a piece. He wanted that banana burned in to our brains. There's gotta be a better way to say that. But maybe there isn't. The cover was all Andy, but the music was Lou and the band. At least Lou gave credit where credit was due in this statement: "He just made it possible for us to be ourselves and go right ahead with it because he was Andy Warhol. In a sense, he really did produce it, because he was this umbrella that absorbed all the attacks when we weren't large enough to be attacked... and as a consequence of him being the producer, we'd just walk in and set up and do what we always did and no one would stop it because Andy was the producer. Of course he didn't know anything about record production—but he didn't have to. He just sat there and said "Oooh, that's fantastic," and the engineer would say, "Oh yeah! Right! It is fantastic, isn't it?" Hahaha Never the less, it IS iconic. It IS a great album cover, and it was all because of Andy Warhol.
...Nico. Notice how Lou has his back to her almost as if he was saying, "You know, the whole Nico idea stopped being good once I sobered up. Thanks Andy...sneaky bastard."
Shiny shiny shiny piece of leather.. INDEED! Lou Reed is so wonderfully creepy. He has a bowl cut and still manages to be a stud. I think Andy underestimated the heroin that Lou was on. Chasing that dragon made him a super star. Or if anything a damn good song writer.
If these walls could talk....The Factory was a known breading ground for artist, celebrities and druggies. There were always little projects that Andy had his friends working on for him. A red couch and silver foil went a long way thanks to Billy Name who found the couch abandoned on 47th and covered The Factory in silver per Andy's request. The Velvet Underground was also given a face lift when Andy introduced TVU to Nico. I'm sure Lou would agree with me when I say...Yuck.

Speaking of Fuzzy or Minty....Edie Sedgwick was involved with Bob as well. But her most famous relationship was with Andy Warhol. Edie was a bright shiny toy for the pop artist to play with. She launched Andy into Uptown New York proper because of her family name and was crowned the "It Girl" of '65. The relationship ended on a sour note because the lack royalties on Andy's part. Poor Little Rich Girl was a hit in Paris but the artist expected everyone to do his movies for free because of who he was. A.A (After Andy) she found a short lived sanctuary at The Chelsea Hotel where she began her fling with Bob Dylan. Her struggle with anorexia and heroin, in and out of mental institutions and rehabs, put a stop to her young heart at the age of 28. Edie just couldn't make it in The Factory, but she was great piece of glitter while it lasted.
Bob originally wrote this, but I think Joan made the words mean something. In the doc "Don't look back" they show many times through out the European tour, the hot and cold aspects of their relationship. "Crying like a banana in the sun" She was an activist and he was a wandering wordsmith. The guitar pluckers went their separate ways after the tour. Sad, yes. But it made their reunions that much cooler.
Dreamy Dali and Luis Buñuel almost made me puke today with this opening shot. The rest is quite beautiful. Un Chein Andalou(An Itch to Kill). Le film être bon!
Fact: The Starship was staffed by two stewardesses, Susie, and attractive eighteen-year old blonde, and Bianca, a twenty-two year old with a dark complexion and a sense of humor.
There are two songs that I can think of that have very obvious references to the Lord of the Rings.(cough-nerd!)Ramble On and Battle of Evermore. Ramble On, "Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear. How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air. T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair. But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her....yeah." Battle of Evermore could have been written by Bilbo Baggins. I love the fact that Led was at the top of the food chain as far as groupies go, but in reality these girls were just arm candy(among other things)to Dungeon and Dragon kids. I think I love them even more now. "People will Read again!!"
John Bonham was one of the greatest drummers of all time. After years and years of success with Led, he drank himself to bottom of a bottle and an estimated 40 shots of vodka took his life. He was 32. After his death the band couldn't go on without their dear Bonzo so they Dear Johned the press and released this statement. "We wish it to be known that the loss of our dear friend and the deep respect we have for his family, together with the sense of undivided harmony felt by ourselves and our manager, have led us to decide that we could not continue as we were." - Led Zeppelin Even though they are touring again and making rent, I raise my glass. John will continue to be missed. He played like Moby Dick, but he lived like Ahab.
Almost cut my hair It happened just the other day It's gettin' kind of long I could've said it was in my way But I didn't and I wonder why I feel like letting my freak flag fly And I feel like I owe it, to someone (David Crosby of CSN&Y)
Don't go to Mozambique in Laguna Beach. They pay black people to greet you and walk around the dinner area with sticks and war paint. What would Marcus Garvey do? WWMGD
Charlie Parker looked like Buddha Charlie Parker, who recently died Laughing at a juggler on the TV After weeks of strain and sickness, Was called the Perfect Musician. And his expression on his face Was as calm, beautiful, and profound As the image of the Buddha Represented in the East, the lidded eyes The expression that says "All Is Well" This was what Charlie Parker Said when he played, All is Well. You had the feeling of early-in-the-morning Like a hermit's joy, or Like the perfect cry of some wild gang At a jam session, "Wail, Wop" Charlie burst his lungs to reach the speed Of what the speedsters wanted And what they wanted Was his eternal Slowdown. - Jack Kerouac

A Cherokee Legend An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
There's no earthly way of knowing Which direction we are going There's no knowing where we're rowing Or which way the river's flowing Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane a-blowing?
Not a speck of light is showing So the danger must be growing Are the fires of hell a-glowing? Is the grisly reaper mowing? Yes! The danger must be growing For the rowers keep on rowing And they're certainly not showing Any signs that they are slowing! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! -W. Wonka
My Grandmother use to make me play Loteria when I was a little girl. She said it would help me learn Spanish. Thank you Grandma, I now know how to say El Borracho están jugando con El Tambor.
I'm in a bar. In the middle of nowhere. It's hot outside and cool inside. The bar doors both swing open at the same time. I turn to see who it is and my chaps get stuck to the chair for a minute. It gets hot. The band approaches the stage that looks like it could collapse any minute. My drink is almost done so I go in for another. Anyone else in the bar? I didn't mind. I dust off my boots and the band begins.
The guilty undertaker sighs The lonesome organ grinder cries The silver saxophones say I should refuse you The cracked bells and washed-out horns Blow into my face with scorn But it's not that way I wasn't born to lose you I want you, I want you I want you so bad Honey, I want you.
No, this is not from an iphone(ishame). It's just a digital camera with my blue blockers over the lens. I live in an app-less world. You should do the same.
Everytime I hear the music and I make a dip, a dip Slave master comes around and spank I with his whip, the whip But if I don’t get my desire Then I'll set the plantations in fire My temperature is getting much higher Got to get what I require..
Quad Skate: Four wheels set in two side-by-side pairs, which fit over ordinary footwear and were tightened with a screw. Designed in New York City by James Leonard Plimpton in an attempt to improve upon previous designs. The skate contained a pivoting action using a rubber cushion that allowed the skater to skate a curve just by leaning to one side.
She should have went to the gypo down the street. They might have been a little bit more honest with her about her very short future. Doesn't pay to be a home wrecker does it suga pie...
"The ancient tradition that the world will be consumed in fire at the end of six thousand years is true, as I have heard from Hell. For the cherub with his flaming sword is hereby commanded to leave his guard at the tree of life, and when he does, the whole creation will be consumed and appear infinite and holy whereas it now appears finite & corrupt. This will come to pass by an improvement of sensual enjoyment. But first the notion that man has a body distinct from his soul is to be expunged; this I shall do, by printing in the infernal method, by corrosives, which in Hell are salutary and medicinal, melting apparent surfaces away, and displaying the infinite which was hid. If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narow chinks of his cavern." - William Blake 1790-1793
Faster Pussycat Kill Kill was released in 1965. Written and Directed by Russ Meyer, my visual needs are amply satisfied and slightly scared when Tura Santana and her huge boobs POP on to the screen. "Easy baby, you're almost a fire hazard." I raise my glass, Russ. Coolest chola I've ever known...
