The Hindu religion was the base of this mammoth myth. The elephant headed god was a luck god. India was on a roll. But the trunk up craze was an American thing. During the depression Ameri's needed a good luck symbol, the people need hope and Apollo Creed wasn't around yet. They took the four leaf clover, a pinch of salt over the shoulder, the horse shoe, the rabbits foot and made it their own, but they put a elephant on a coin as a symbol of good luck and political tool that in turn allowed the debut of the Republican party symbol. Needless to say, "A real man makes his own luck." Yes, I quoted Billy Zane via Titanic, but is no less true? You can be as strong or as weak, happy or sad as you want to be.(Harsh? Yes.)But digress, I would like to think of these little trinkets as little reminders for us through out the day, everything is going to be ok, we will make it. Just a little light at the end of your Monday tunnel."We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." Thank you Oscar Wilde and Chrissy Hynde, I like that.
